Victorian Necklace 90ct Amethyst 17.25ct Diamond 14k Gold SilverAppraisal (4899)
$50,000.00
/
Antique Victorian Necklace. 14k Gold, diamonds, amethysts. Made in the Netherlands / Holland / Dutch. Circa 1830-1850. Measurements: 90carat Amethyst, 17.25ct Diamonds. Length: 15 inches. Centerpiece Dimensions: 3-1/2 inches x 2 inches. Weighs 84.30 grams. Museum Quality necklace featuring oval and cushion-shaped amethysts enhanced by European-cut diamonds. Set in silver-topped 14k gold. Large purple amethysts surrounded by borders of diamonds. The bottom amethysts are further enhanced with dancing ribbons of scrolling diamonds. Inbetween each beautiful large purple gem is a series of overlapping, s-shaped links of diamonds. The pendant below is detachable. The necklace can be worn without by day and with the pendant at night, making it a true day-night jewel. Tongue in groove clasp with an additional safety feature. This magnificent necklace would make any woman look like royalty and will certainly result in gasps of admiration from anyone who sees it. A real museum piece. The necklace was at one time convertable. The main pendant component could be broken down into 3 pieces to change both the look of the necklace and to add versatility. The base drop of the pendant was designed to be placed on either a stickpin or hatpin componenet. The middle section of the pendant could be worn on the necklace without the attached top section or on its own as it has a retractable pendant bail. Marks: Dutch hallmarks. Metal was acid tested to ensure purity. Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. See text above and pictures for details. Please do not hesitate to ask questions, which we will do our best to answer. Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request. A similar necklace with matching earrings sold in New York for almost $200 000.-
