Art Deco Necklace Platinum White and Fancy Yellow Diamonds w Appraisal (5981)
$16,000.00
/
Antique Belle Epoque to early Art Deco lavalier negligee necklace. Platinum white and fancy yellow diamonds with certificate. Made circa 1910 -1920. Measurements: Approximately 14 3/4 inches (37.5cm) from end to end of chain. Drop is slightly under 3 inches (8cm). Old European cut round Natural Fancy Yellow diamond 0.76ct approx; Old European cut diamond approx 0.79ct. An additional 11 smaller diamonds weighing approximately 1.0 ct. Total diamond weight 2.55ct. Weighs 14.3grams. Exquisitely made early 20th century negligee lavaliere necklace. Original chain meets a forked line of finely millegrain set diamonds that meet at the lavaliere in the center. Extremely fine workmanship with openwork millegrain platinum to offset the diamonds to best advantage. The quality of the workmanship is unsurpassed. This little 'bib' leads to a pair of drops that exactly echo the upper lines of diamonds, but are longer and asymetric with one being slightly longer than the other. The longer line ends in a natural fancy yellow diamond and the other line ends in a white old European cut diamond. This indicates a lingering influence of the Art Nouveau era. This necklace looks stunning when worn. Marks: there are 3 identical marks on the loops that close the chain. They are very tiny and only visible with a 20X loupe. I have tried to show at least one of them clearly in the pictures. They depict a butterfly with the letter W (or is it a dragonfly with an M?). Platinum was acid tested to ensure metal purity. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. See above re possible resizing. Please see enlarged photos for details. Do not hesitate to ask questions, which we will do our best to answer. Stones were independently appraised in 2015 and although value is outdated, we have included the appraisal with our description. Appraisal available to new owner. The mark is very similar to the mark of Meyle und Mayor who produced beautiful jewelry in Germany during this period.
