Antique Art Deco pendant sautoir. Marcilhac 1652, mold number 1359 orange-red glass and silk cords. Made in Paris, France by Rene Lalique circa 1920.

Measurements: Weight is 32.2 grams including the silk thread. Height of pendant 5cm as described by Marcilhac. Doubled thread over 55cm. Tassles 18cm.

Description : An outstanding example of the magnificent jewelry work of Rene Lalique, who is universally recognised as the most outstanding proponent of glass and jewelry. A triangular pendant with rounded corners and arching, rounded top. Known by Marcilhac (the authority on Rene Lalique) as GRAINES, which means seeds in French, it depicts curling twigs or branches with round berries or seeds. Fabulous quality moulding. A hole at the top and 3 at the bottom are threaded with the original orange silk threads enabling the pendant to be worn as a sautoir with long tassles. This reflects the 1920's Art Deco, Flapper era perfectly. The glass is orangy red with a wonderful glow, especially as seen from the back. As you lift it up and the light passes through the glass, it looks like a fire and quite alive. Can be worn by a man or a woman.

Marks and Metal: Back with engraved R. Lalique signature.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age, mainly to the threads. The glass shows no chips/cracks of any sort. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
