Vintage Retro Ring 18k Gold Rubies Diamonds Geometric Design 1940's (7063)

Antique / vintage ring. 18k yellow gold, natural rubies and diamonds. Made during the Retro period, circa 1940's. Possibly American. Measurements: Weight is 9.4 grams. US size 5.5. 1.10ct rubies. .61ct diamonds. Description : Classic, strong, geometric Retro design. Retro design continue in the Art Deco tradition of geometric shapes, but they are much stronger and bolder, as is the case with this ring. Also typical of great Retro design is the use of different levels with the eye being led back to front, side to side and also up and down. The top of the bezel consists of an arc of beautifully calibre cut and set rubies. This curving line is bordered on either end by araised semi-circle of pave-set diamonds in white gold. Together, this produces the effect, when seen from the side, of 3 scallops, the central one longer and lower, the sides higher and rounder. Making this ring special are the protrusions on either side of the bezel in the form of a narrower version of the upper, scalloped section. Each of the 4 ends is colette-set with a custom carved, cabochon ruby. The bezel folds over the shoulders of the shank, which consists of rounded 'treads' possibly influenced by the tank theme of the period (1940's and WWII). Marks and Metal: There are no hallmarks to be found. Gold was acid tested to ensure purity. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
