Vintage Mikimoto Pearl Cufflinks 14k Gold Abalone Unisex Jewelry (5371)

Vintage estate cufflinks. 14k yellow gold, cultured pearls and abalone / mother of pearl. Made in Japan and signed by K. Mikimoto.

 

Measurements: rounded squares approximately 13mm wide; weigh 10 grams; pearls approx 4mm accross. Note, ruler in 'photos is in inches.

 

We thought the background was mother of pearl, but have been corrected by a knowledgeable Ebayer and now know that the pearly grey material is actually abalone, which is more rare than mother of pearl. Thank you for that information. Circular disks of blue / dove grey abalone, set in the center with a round pearl with silvery white tones. Surrounded by a border of yellow gold in a rounded square shape. Hinged backs, easy to insert and to catch. Extremely elegant.

 

Marks: each cufflink is hallmarked as follows: K. MIKIMOTO TOKYO with the M trademark/logo and 14K.

 

Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age.

 

From what we see, this model cufflink was retired and is no longer in production.
