Antique late Victorian ring. Pink tourmaline, diamonds, 18k gold and platinum. Made in England, United Kingdom, circa 1895 - 1905.
Measurements: Weight is 2.9 grams. US size 7 (a tad under).
Description : A classic ring that the French call Marguerite or Daisy with a large, wide oval pink tourmaline in the center, surrounded by 'petals' of diamonds set in platinum. The whole raised on an openwork u-shaped gallery so that light enters the gems from the back as well as the top of the ring.
The tourmaline is a wonderful, bright pink, with a large, flat table (upper surface) and gently faceted sides. It is particularly luscious due to the broadness of the shape - almost rectangular with rounded edges. Beautifully offset by the border of white diamonds and platinum. Shank is a simple, cylinder that tapers towards the bezel.
Shows off beautifully on the finger.
Marks and Metal: T&S 18CT PLAT inside the shank.
