Antique, Art Nouveau brooch in the form of a pansy flower. Made of 18k gold, silver, diamonds and enamel with plique-a-jour border. Circa 1880-1890.
Measurements: approx. 1 inch across the top and 1 1/8inch top to bottom. Weighs 10.2grams.
Brooch in the form of a Pansy. The upper section and top of the back is all 18k gold and the area set with diamonds is in silver (typical of Victorian jewelry). The upper section is a magnificent deep maroon red color - quite unique and extremely rare. Molded details add depth and highlights to the exceptional enameling. The bottom two petals have a fine golden-orange/tan-brown enameled detail surrounded by finely set old cut diamonds. The border is composed of bright blue plique a jour enamel - quite exception in color. In the center of the flower is a larger diamond, approx. 40points in size. Original, secure c-clasp on the back.
Very good condition.
