Antique Hand Painted Porcelain portrait plaque of a young woman with a garland of flowers on her head. German. Signed S  Douglas Dresden '97. 

Plaque site measurements: approx 6 1/8 X 4 3/4 inches. The outer frame is approx 10 X 8 1/2 inches. 

Oval plaque depicting a beautiful, dark-haired young woman with a wreath of red poppies in her hair. She wears a white, simple garment, Neo Classic in style. A

meadowy background slopes up towards the sky. The details of the woman's face are exceptionally sensually painted. Fantastic peaches and cream complexion, her rosy

cheeks set off by the red flowers in her dark hair. Soft curls dance around her pretty face and the contrast of the dark and light is most effective. 

The painting is possibly after one by the artist Meinelt, whose well-known Daphne and other portraits could be the same model.  This is certainly KPM quality.

The plaque comes in an earlier gilt wood frame, glued to a later silk matted wooden frame. 

The back of the plaque, under glass, is signed  "SUMMER" S. DOUGLAS DRESDEN '97. There is an impressed 3 on the back of the plaque as well.
