Plaque measures approx 4 1/4 X3 1/4 inches. Frame approx 5 1/2 X 4 3/4 inches.
Oval porcelain plaque depicting a young French woman. Her hair pulled back into a bun on the top of her head, can't help the curls from spilling over her brow. She
wears a sky-blue jacket, ruffled white shirt with a blue velvet collar to match her jacket and with a frill peeping over the top. A gold brooch it her throat. A gold
earring adding a fine and realistic touch. The face and expression are all French. More than pretty, she looks intelligent and inquisitive. The details are
beautifully rendered and since the pigment is fired onto the porcelain, it has retained it's freshness over more than 100 years.
Signed B. Lacaud near the bottom - see 'photos.
The plaque comes with a frame that might be original or a replacement, but it needs to be replaced properly as it is currently simply taped to the frame. The frame
is an antique and appropriate to the painting. It is made of gutta percha or some similar old celluloid material, with raised decoration on each corner. Brass inner
frame with raised decoration. All in good condition, but as mentioned, need to be properly fitted with the portrait.
