Handpainted porcelain figure of Shul Meister Lempel by Max Rosler, from the Max and Moritz series.
Dated 1894.
Measures 8 1/2inches high.
MINT condition.
Stands on oval base. Hilarious comic figure, brilliantly portrayed with his stick and slippers.
Underneath are German factory marks and signature.The factory is Max Roesler from Rodach, a town in Germany. The badge mark is the factory mark and under that is a squiggle that is the two-digit mold number and the script reads 'hangemalt' (hand painted).
Dated 1894.
