Measures 1-3/4 inches long and almost 1 1/2 inches high. Weighs 42.4 grams (27.3 pennyweights).
16 round brilliant cut diamonds; 90 round single cut diamonds. Total diamond weight approx 2.75carats.
Naturalistic gold stem with curling, textured leaves - one large pair and a 4 smaller ones on the other side of a large openwork rose. The flower consists of 2 concentric rings of petals around a brilliantly diamond set center. Each petal is luxuriant, scrolling, openwork gold textured bands, naturalistic in form, yet classic, elegant, abstract design. The top of each petal looks to be gently turned back with the illusion of dewdrops, actually formed by tightly set diamonds, matched to fit the sculptured forms exactly.
The petals are almost invisibly hinged so that they can open and close, like a rose opening in the sun. As the rings of petals open, so the beautiful design of the gold openwork becomes visible and more light comes through a larger area.
The diamonds glisten and gleam extraordinarilly, which adds to the marvel of this wonderful, fanciful creation. Workmanship is outstanding and matches the artistic quality.
