for Tiffany & Co in 1965 and was regarded as the 'genius in the field of jewelry design' by Tiffany (page 88 Bejewelled by Tiffany 1837-1937, Clare Phillips). See
'photos of the original brooch in the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book of 1966. Our brooch is a good copy of the original.
Provenance: From the estate of Dorothy & Sydney Factor of Max Factor Cosmetics.
Measurements: Approx 2 1/2 inches (6cm) top to bottom; 2 inches (5cm) accross widest part. Weighs 44.20grams.
Approx 1ct diamonds - full and single cut; Pear shaped ruby.
Brooch / pin in the form of Humpty Dumpty who sat on the wall. Wonderfully and humourously modelled with broad, generous facial features to the egg-head, his body
in green guilloche enamel striped with gold and fully relief modelled white bow tie. Jester like shoes with gold pompoms. Cuffs and collar diamond set; diamonds for
eyes and a jester's cap in 14k white gold with pave set with diamonds. From his left hand, a pear-shaped ruby dangles.
Quality of the design and workmanship is excellent. Secure pin at the back.
Engraved 18k. There is NO Tiffany mark to be found and we will therefore not attribute the brooch to Tiffany & Co. It is a very good copy.
There is an inexplicable spot of solder on the back of the brooch that in no way compromises the piece and is mentioned for the sake of accuracy. From the front, the
brooch is in very good condition with no wear/loss to the enamel, gold or gems.
