production.
Measures 10 inches long. Weighs 95.4grams.
This server is entirely made of sterling silver. The elegantly long and narrow blade with curving edges and wonderful pierced scrolls and flowers is joined to the
handle by a pair of Classic Art Nouveau Poppy flowers and their foliage in repousse silver. The entire handle epitomised the Art Nouveau period in every way: narrow
and thin at it's join to the blade with more repousse flowers and foliage, typically sensuous, long and elongated in accordance with the style of the period. This
gradully widens to accommodate the form of a stunning female figure, seemingly emerging right out of the silver, her voluptious body framed by fans of scrolling
foliage and a Cupid cherub, arrow in hand, looking up adoringly at the woman, who might represent Psyche of Classic Roman mythology. Long, flowing hair and
beautifully detailed hands. The back of the handle has another Art Nouveau vignette of poppies and twining foliage.
Hallmarked on the back of the handle with the R&B symbol of bird, R and lion; STERLING, and Pat. applied for.
Condition is good. No dings/dents. If anything negative can be said, it has been a little too zealously cleaned.
