Measurements: the paper is 12 7/8 inches (32cm) X just under 8 1/4 inches (21.5cm).
A beautiful painting of Krishna, consort and supplicants in a garden. There are 3 groups of figures: Krishna with 2 others (Rhada and another); a group of 3 marvellous tribesmen in the center and another group of 7 more urbanised Indians on the right. The central group wears entirely different clothing, head-dresses and face paint to the other groups of figures.
All along the bottom of the painting are goats/deer with their babies - as entranced and focused on Krishna as the humans are.
The scene takes place in a landscape with fantastic trees with at least 6 different kinds of foliage, very beautifully depicted in wonderful colours. The colours, detail and forms in this painting are especially lovely, subtlely echoing the gentle nature and theme of the painting.
Condition is generally good with minor loss of paint to some foliage - see 'photos.
