Antique, European Carved figurine. Boy holding a dog. Made circa 1850's. Possibly English or French.  

Figure measures approx 2 1/4 inches tall. THe wooden base adds a little over 1 1/2 inches to the height.  

Small figurine is a wonderful view of a Victorian child. His clothes are marvellous: from the wide hat with bows and pompoms; sailor suit with wide collar falling

over the back of his shoulders and tied in the front; wonderful shoes with bows. The child's features in fine detail from his face, hair and hand in his pocket - how

typical of a little boy is that? Squeezed tightly under his arm is a little dog. Utterly charming.

The figure stands on a shaped wooden base.
