Measurements: Box 5 1/4-5 1/2 inches long. Necklace approx 17 inches long. Drops vary in length, but minimum 1 1/2 inches. Weighs 15.5grams.
Extremely fine herring-bone chain, with links tightly overlapping. A slide is fitted over the two sides of the chain. The center in pale, natural coral, overlaid in bright 18k gold, fanning out to sea shells on either side and all set with rectangular emeralds. For gems of this age they are of a fabulous quality and very well cut - no visible flaws and of a lovely bright green.
The terminals of the chain end in gold tulip shapes suspending larger coral tulip tassels, caged in gold wirework and set with gold beads and emeralds to match those on the slide. The terminals can slide up or down the chain, hanging at equal or different lengths.
The reverse of the necklace has a concealed locket with very finely braided hair inside.
Beautiful early Victorian clasp: naturalistically shaped and richly chased and engraved with scrolls and foliage.
The necklace comes in it's original fitted case. Horse-shoe shaped, leather outside, silk upper lining with JA Page Goldsmith Plymouth in black ink. The shaped bottom is velvet lined. Outside of the box has 3 hook clasps all in good working order.
No hallmarks but tested for at least 18k gold.
Very good condition.
