Loading... Please wait...Antique Chinese Export Silver lancet case. Looks like a vesta or match safe, but made and fitted to hold a pair of lancets - used medically by doctors in the field
1-200 years ago. Chinese, circa 1850-1880.
Measures 2 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches 62 X 36mm. Weighs 29.5 grams.
Rectangular case / box. Hinged lid with button and thumbpiece to open it. Outside one side is richly decorated with repousse Chinese figures performing various
activities in a beautiful landscape. Weeping willows and large-leafed plants. The other side with raised bamboo stemming from a naturalistic rock formation. The
sides with matching decoration of raised foliage and flowers.
Like many steel lancets of the time, they are encased in a 'natural material' - original to the piece.
No hallmarks / identifying marks were found.
Good condition. No losses/damage of any sort were found.
