Antique, VIctorian cross / crucifix pendant. Brass set with coloured paste gems. Circa 1860.  <P><P>

Superb, brilliant paste gems that look like natural blue zircon and peridot are set in a wonderfully modelled cross. The arms of the cross have flowers and foliage in relief, ending in exquisite lilies. Very fine detail. Nice contrast between more and less golden patina of the brass, adds to the interest. Very well made: the Victorians lavished as much effort into paste jewels as they did with expensive gemstones and this is a great example of their beautiful workmanship. Very fine design.  <P><P>
