Victorian French jewelry / snuff box made of lacquer. Dates to the 19th century. Measurements: 3 3/4" long;2 3/8" wide; 1 1/8" high. Rectangular trinket box with hinged lid. The entire box is painted to simulate tortoiseshell. The top is painted with a vignette of a maiden and cherubs / putto drawing water from a well. This is surrounded by a gilt cartouche border. The inside is entirely of red lacquer and was fitted with divisions, one of which was subdivided, but that sub-partition is no longer present. In general, the box is in very good condition. The sub-division that is missing is a minor imperfection.
