Loading... Please wait...Antique signed Hoffman fabulous carved yellow glass trinket / jewelry box with lid. Made by the Hoffman glass factoroy in Bohemia / Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) early 20th century and signed by Hoffman's son-in-law, Henry Schlevogt.
Measures 2 5/8 inches in diameter.
Faceted into 16 sides, cylindrical orange-yellow glass box. Lid is superbly carved with a scene depicting a woman goddess, dressed in Greek toga, waving a billowing shawl, two young godlike musicians on either side. One panlike, plays on a flute, the other, winged, a triangle. They stand on a decorative base. Excellent quality workmanship.
Within the base is a butterfly - the well-known signature of the Hoffman factory. Tiny initials H.S are acid etched above it. They are the initials of Henry Schlevogt, who designed many of the successful HOffman pieces.
Condition is good.
