Measures 3 1/2 inches long.
Entirely carved of wood. Even the hinges are exquisitely made of wood. The bottom and sides are burl wood. THe sides curve in a full, rounded form. THe lid extends
very slightly over the edge of the sides and is carved to appear as though it is being rolled back. The top of the lid is superbly handcarved with a pair of
performers / entertainers: a man playing the violin, seated on a barrel. At his tapping feet is a dog, wearing a top hat and standing on his hind quarters, possibly
dancing in time to the music. The man's hair flies behind him. Details are superb - from the planks of the barrel to the curve and striations on the fiddle and the
toothless mouth of the musician. THe dog is fabulous and steals the show. Background is stippled with a tiled floor hinted at by simple lines.
Very good condition.
